Irene Walker was born in Rinteln Germany and studied at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen from whence she graduated in Art and Design in 1971. Since then she has taught Art and Design in many schools throughout Scotland and also taught jewellery in Leicestershire.
Irene previously worked as an art Lecturer at Ayr College. Irene enjoys painting from her experiences of holidaying in Tuscany, Provence, Spain and her native country Scotland.
Irene follows the Scottish Colourist tradition of using strong colour and creating powerful textural images, drawing inspiration from the sunshine of the Tuscan, Provencal, Spanish and Scottish landscape.
Irene has a love of flowers since her father introduced them to her in her early childhood. Her passion for creating strong contrasting colours, and her experiences as a designer are reflected in her love of pattern and her use of texture.
